The new single 'She's a Bitch and I'm a Fool' by Sparks the Rescue was released last night and is now available to download from itunes. This latest single follows the 2009 album 'Eyes To The Sun' and will be part of their upcoming album 'Worst Thing I've Been Cursed With'. This is the first song to be released from the new album and it really gives the fans an insight as to what the new album will be like. If this song is any indication of the quality of the new album, then the many dedicated Sparks the Rescue followers will certainly not be disappointed.
'She's a Bitch and I'm a Fool' could be compared to many of the tracks from the last album as it includes many of the same elements. For example it has the repetitiveness of 'We Love Like Vampires', the precise use of guitar which is similar to 'Autumn' and it even has a slight air of 'Shipwreck' about it. Some people may be disappointed by the similarity between the songs and could describe it as regurgitating previous hits, however others may argue it is simply taking the best fragment from each song and creating something which is far superior to past successes. The song follows the general conventions and themes of a typical Sparks the Rescue single. The tune is catchy and accompanies the lyrics in a way which is so agreeable to the ear, it completely overshadows many of the recent releases by other bands at this moment in time.
In many cases, bands attempt to recreate themselves in their new albums and stray too far from their genre's roots and although this can sometimes be a triumph, it's common for this kind of move to leave the fans wishing for the band to return to the style they know and love. This however is not the situation that Sparks the Rescue are currently in, as any lovers of 'Eyes To The Sun' are guaranteed to adore this new addition to the band's impressive collection of songs. Alex Roy's mind numbingly unique voice really captivates the emotions of the thought provoking lyrics, forcing the song to stick firmly in the listener's brain like a fond memory.
With the album 'Worst Thing I've Been Cursed With' being released on the 10th of May, only time will tell whether their success will continue and whether their reputation will remain untarnished. I personally implore fans, old and new, to listen to this new single and download it immediately as I believe that it is truly an incredible song which deserves a place in every person's itunes library. Sparks the Rescue are currently touring in the US and hopefully after the release of the upcoming album, the band will return to Europe where many fans lie in desperate wait to see what would, in no doubt, be an unforgettable show.
